How is the total research time calculated?

The tool sums the base time of every selected level between your current level and target level. If you enter a research speed bonus, it then calculates a reduced total time so you can see both your raw timing and your expected boosted timing.

Does inventory change the actual required cost?

No. Your inventory does not change the real upgrade requirements. It simply shows whether you already have enough resources or how much more you still need to gather before starting the plan.

Can I use this calculator for partial research progress?

Yes. That is one of the main reasons to use it. Set your current level to the level you have already completed, then set your target level. The calculator will only count the remaining levels you still need.

Should I plan one troop branch at a time or all three together?

If you are trying to optimize one troop type for immediate combat performance, planning one branch at a time can be clearer. If you are trying to budget for a wider T11 progression push, planning all three branches together gives you a much more realistic picture of your total cost and time commitment.
