The Best Guide to the War Academy in KingShot
This guide provides a comprehensive breakdown of the War Academy, including unlocking requirements, new resources, the powerful Tier 11 (T11) troops, and strategic advice for players of all spending levels.
1. Unlocking the War Academy
To gain access to the War Academy, you must meet the following criteria:
- Server Age: Your server must be at least 220 days old.
- Town Center Level: Your Town Center must be level 30 or higher.
- Timing: The War Academy building will appear on the south side of your city on the Monday following your server's first Internal Castle Battle after meeting the age requirement.
2. Introduction to Truegold and T11 Troops
The War Academy introduces a new tier of troops and the resources required to unlock them.
- Tier 11 (T11) "Truegold" Troops: These are a significant upgrade over the previous Tier 10 (T10) troops, offering superior stats and combat effectiveness. The new T11 troops include Truegold Infantry, Truegold Archers, and Truegold Cavalry.
- Truegold Dust: This is a new essential item used for all research within the War Academy.
- Truegold: This is another new resource required for upgrading the War Academy building and for certain research nodes.
3. How to Obtain Truegold Dust and Truegold
There are a few ways to acquire these new resources:
Truegold Dust:
- Direct Purchase: You can buy packs from the Top-up Center, such as the "Truegold Dust Weekly Card" and the "Truegold Dust Pack." The weekly card is noted as offering superior value.
- Truegold Dust Exchange: Located within the War Academy interface, this shop allows you to exchange resources for Truegold Dust. It resets daily and offers two options:
- Exchange Gold for Truegold Dust: 5,000 Gold for 1 Truegold Dust (up to 20 times daily).
- Exchange Truegold for Truegold Dust: 10 Truegold for 13 Truegold Dust (up to 200 times daily).
- Note: The video advises against exchanging Gold for Truegold Dust, as a significant amount of Gold is required later to unlock the T11 troops themselves.
Truegold:
- Direct Purchase: You can buy packs containing Truegold, such as the "Truegold Weekly Card" and the "Truegold Pack."
4. War Academy Building Upgrades
Upgrading the War Academy building itself is crucial.
- It is a prerequisite for advancing through the research tree. To unlock T11 troops, your War Academy must be upgraded to Truegold Level 5.
- Each level provides a bonus to Research Speed. Upgrading from Level 1 to Level 5 costs a total of 1,135 Truegold and provides a cumulative 2.5% Research Speed buff.
- Strategy: It is highly recommended to upgrade the building to Level 5 in one go if you are committed to unlocking T11 troops. This maximizes the research speed bonus from the start, saving you time and speedups in the long run.
5. Detailed Breakdown of the Truegold Tech Research Tree
The research tree is divided into six distinct rows or stages, each unlocking progressively more powerful buffs.
Row 1: Truegold Battalion (Squads' Deployment Capacity)
- This is the first and most fundamental research.
- It consists of three separate nodes that each increase your Squads' Deployment Capacity.
- When all three nodes are maxed out (Level 5 each), you gain a total of +3,000 Squads' Deployment Capacity.
- Recommendation: This is a high-priority research for all players.
Row 2: Health and Lethality Stats
- This row focuses on boosting the Health and Lethality of your core troop types.
- Infantry: Prioritize Infantry Health first, then Infantry Lethality.
- Archers: Prioritize Archer Lethality first, then Archer Health.
- Cavalry: You can either balance both stats or prioritize Cavalry Lethality first, followed by Cavalry Health.
Row 3: Truegold Legionaries (Rally Capacity)
- This row significantly boosts your Rally Squad Capacity.
- There are three nodes, and maxing out just one of them (to Level 12) grants an additional 33,500 Rally Capacity.
- Maxing all three provides a total rally capacity boost of 100,500.
Row 4: Attack and Defense Stats
- This row is similar to Row 2 but focuses on Attack and Defense.
- Infantry: Prioritize Infantry Defense first, then Infantry Attack.
- Archers: Prioritize Archer Attack first, then Archer Defense.
- Cavalry: You can either balance both stats or prioritize Cavalry Attack first, followed by Cavalry Defense.
Row 5: Unlocking T11 Troops
- This is the main goal of the research tree.
- To unlock a specific T11 troop type (e.g., Truegold Infantry), you must meet these prerequisites:
- War Academy Truegold Lv. 5.
- The corresponding Attack research from Row 4 must be maxed at Lv. 12.
- The corresponding Defense research from Row 4 must be maxed at Lv. 12.
- The research cost is substantial, requiring 2,236 Truegold Dust and 1 Million Gold just for the unlock node.
Row 6: T11 Troop Specialization
- Once a T11 troop is unlocked, three additional research paths become available for it:
- Truegold Aid (Healing Time Down): Reduces healing time. The video notes this is less critical due to the new monthly card's instant heal feature.
- Truegold Training (Training Cost Down): Reduces the resource cost to train T11 troops.
- Truegold Healing (Healing Cost Down): Reduces the resource cost to heal T11 troops.
- Recommendation: The Training Cost and Healing Cost reduction research nodes are considered very important due to the high resource cost of T11 troops.
Below is a breakdown of the total costs to unlock all T11 troops and their extra research nodes:
| TG Dust | Gold | TG cost | |
|---|---|---|---|
| T11 Troops x1 | 13,421 | 3,974,000 | 10,324 |
| T11 troops x3 | 40,263 | 11,922,000 | 30,972 |
| Extra research x1 | 13,953 | 4,066,000 | 10,733 |
| Extra research x3 | 41,859 | 12,198,000 | 32,199 |
| Total for all T11 research | 82,122 | 24,120,000 | 63,171 |
6. Cost Analysis: T10 vs. T11 Troops
A critical factor to consider is the massive increase in the cost of training and healing T11 troops compared to T10s.
-
Healing Cost: Healing T11 troops costs approximately 150% more resources on average than healing T10 troops. This is a 2.5x increase. For every 1 billion resources you spent healing T10s, you will now spend 2.5 billion healing T11s.

Healing/Training Time: The time required is only increased by about 18-86%, which is less significant than the resource cost.
7. Strategic Advice for Different Player Types
For Free-to-Play (F2P) Players:
- Recommendation: Do not pursue T11 troops.
- The cost to unlock and, more importantly, to sustain (train and heal) them is prohibitively high without spending.
- Instead, focus your War Academy efforts on the universal stat boosts that benefit your existing T10 army:
- Max out all three Squads' Deployment Capacity nodes (Row 1).
- Research the Health, Lethality, Attack, and Defense buffs for your primary troop type.
- It may be more strategic to wait for a potential future update that introduces T8 Truegold troops, which might be more accessible.
For Mid-Spenders:
- Recommendation: Unlock at least one T11 troop type, preferably your main troop specialization (e.g., Infantry).
- The stat advantage of T11s is significant and will give you a major edge in combat.
- Be prepared for the high resource cost. It is highly recommended to have at least one farm account to gather the necessary resources to sustain your T11 army.
- Prioritize the research that reduces training and healing costs after unlocking your first T11 troop.
For High-Spenders (Whales):
- Recommendation: Unlock all three T11 troop types and max out the entire research tree.
- Focus on acquiring Truegold Dust and Truegold through packs to accelerate progress.
- Even for high spenders, having a farm account is beneficial for managing the immense resource consumption required for constant fighting with a full T11 army.
8. Extra Tip: Promoting Troops During KvK
To maximize points during the "Increase Power" stage of KvK:
- Use a Training Capacity buff (from City Bonus or Noble Advisor).
- Start the promotion of your T10 troops to T11 on Day 1 or 2 of the KvK stage.
- Do not use speedups immediately. Let the promotion timer run naturally.
- Claim the fully promoted troops on Day 4 of the stage. This allows you to save 2-3 days' worth of speedups while still getting the power points within the event window.
I hope this detailed guide helps you master the War Academy and dominate the battlefield in KingShot
